About a year ago I started reading some fashion blogs just to learn what’s in style and for outfit ideas. I have to say that I really do enjoy reading them and getting inspiration to create outfits from the clothes that I already own.
And when I worked in the corporate world (10+ years ago), I used to be one of those chicks that would go get her nails done (gels) every 2-3 weeks. I would never do that now as I I’m much wiser now and would NEVER give those employees away like I used to (check out the Dollars Are Your Employees post) . But for some reason, I pretty much stopped painting my nails..that is until I started reading the fashion blogs.
I have some really old nail polish (like 15 year old, if not older) and I don’t want to throw them out as some of them still work great. Some of them only have a little bit of polish left so I’ve been experimenting by mixing them together.
I was running really low on my pink polish so in order to use up every last drop of it, I just mix it in with another color.
This color actually started out as a very deep burgundy and I’ve been adding different pinks to it and really like the result. I’ve done this now quite a few times and really like the new color creations.
I still have tons of old nail polish that I want to use up and this is a great way to do so and to get new looks and colors without having to go out and buy new polish. No frivolous spending for me as we are working hard to get out of debt! 🙂
Tip: I thought everyone already knew this, but I was talking to a woman recently that had never heard of it, so I thought I would share. If you have older nail polish that has turned really thick and hard to apply, just add in a few drops of nail polish remover, shake it up, and you’ve got perfect nail polish again!
Do you guys have any fun ideas or tricks that you use??
