Update for the week of June 19 – June 25

I’m back to report my goals progress. Will I accomplish every goal?  Maybe not and I’m totally okay with it.  But if these goals are in the forefront of my mind, I know I will end up being in a better place at year end having focused on these goals/choices then I would be otherwise.

So thank you for being my accountability partner.

Here is this past week’s progress:

1. Pay off the remaining consumer debt. – consumer debt free – 4/16/17  – Paid off $137,000 since January 2013

NEW GOAL:  Start saving as much as possible for future goals!

Nope nada.  Any extra that we have is going towards projects around the house right now.

2.  Ebay sales of $20,000 and track how many hours I work each week.

A decent week in ebay sales.  I made $175.65 last week. I spent only about 30 minutes on packaging and shipping.

3. Weekly date night with my husband.

We did have a date night last week.  But we had our youngest son and one of our dogs with us.  We went the the cute little garden/fountain in a nearby town that I talked about last week.  We stopped at McDonalds and got coffees for hubby and I and an ice cream cone for our son.  We went and relaxed by the fountain and people watched while our son took our dog for a walk.  It was actually quite nice.  We also went for a nice walk in the neighborhood and found a really cool planter in the garbage.  I’m going to paint it with some paint I have on hand and it will be awesome!!!  Love finding cool free stuff.

4. Track our spending.

Not last week.

5. Be more active/exercise.

Still weeding a little bit.  But we’ve been adding lots of mulch to our flower and veggie gardens.  Lots of physical stuff around the house.

6. Let go of unnecessary stuff in my life (declutter/minimize/simplify – whatever you want to call it).

Not much of this last week.  Working on a lot of more pressing projects right now, so not focusing much on this.

7. Organize and digitize all of our photographs.

Still backing up.  Most everything is backed up to Google photos, now I’m still backing up to Amazon Prime Photos.  I want my precious memories double backed up!

8. Take more photos of my family and life.

Not much photo taking at all this past week.  But here is one of my cute little dog Daisy (the one that went on our date with us) and the tastiest watermelon that we’ve ever had (that’s why I took the photo, plus the color was so pretty).

9. An attitude of gratitude. I am grateful…

  • For a handy hubby.  He changed the oil on another of our cars.  I am continually grateful and how handy he is.  I really don’t know what I would do without him.
  • For my parents coming into town this weekend and being able to spend time with them.
  • For my husband’s amazing grilling ability.  He made the best steaks and pork chops on the grill this past weekend.  I normally am not crazy about steak, but really enjoyed it this time.
  • For the crazy storms we drove through on our micro-adventure (see below).

  • I know there is more that I am grateful for, but these are the things that come to mind.  What are you grateful for?

10. Microadventures. I love to get away.  It could be a day trip to the beach.  It could be exploring a new park or forest preserve.  And this year I want to focus more on little microadventures. I hope for 1 per month.

Last Monday after hubby came home from work, we took a fun drive to another state (Wisconsin) to pick up a used Wood Chipper that we bought on Craigslist.  And then we headed to Rockford, IL for a used motor for our boat.  The total drive took about 5 hours.  It was so much fun and so picturesque.  We got to visit and explore towns we’ve never been to before.  And the weather was crazy.  On the way there and on the way back we drove into a storm that lasted about 15 each time.  The rest of the time it was sunny with clear skies.

Here are some photos of the amazing sky as we were going into the storm:

12. Try new recipes.

Nothing last week.

13. Chore free weekends. Try to get all our chores completed during the week so that weekends will be chore-free and guilt-free!

Lots of projects that we’re working on, so this will be on hold for a little while.

14. Read 52 books.  Last year I read a total of 53 books.  So I’m hoping to read at least 52 this year.  You can see which books I’ve read on my 2016 Books board on Pinterest. Here’s what I read/listened to last week:

I’m finally back to reading/listening.  Last week i read Anne of Green Gables on audiobook.  I’ve heard about it, but never read it until I heard about a remake on Netflix. I always prefer the books over the movies and will often read them before I watch the movies or shows.  But I did do a little bit of research on the remake and it seems to be more of a dark adaptation of the book and one that strays a bit away from the original story.  So I’m not sure now that I want to see the show.

I just love her curiosity, imagination and optimism.  It was a really great read!

I didn’t realize that there were more of the books and I plan on getting them all from the library.

How are your goals coming along??  I’d love to read about them in the comments!
