Update for the week of June 12 – June 18

I’m back to report my goals progress. Will I accomplish every goal?  Maybe not and I’m totally okay with it.  But if these goals are in the forefront of my mind, I know I will end up being in a better place at year end having focused on these goals/choices then I would be otherwise.

So thank you for being my accountability partner.

Here is this past week’s progress:

1. Pay off the remaining consumer debt. – consumer debt free – 4/16/17  – Paid off $137,000 since January 2013

NEW GOAL:  Start saving as much as possible for future goals!

Well, I saved $500, but then had to take it out again.  So I would say that no…nothing last week.  🙂

2.  Ebay sales of $20,000 and track how many hours I work each week.

Another nice week in ebay sales.  I made $405.35 last week. I spent 2.5 hours listing all of the items I had my son photograph for me and shipping items that sold.

3. Weekly date night with my husband.

No date night last week as well all went out on Thursday night in celebration of my son’s 18th birthday.  We went out to a local small theatre and saw King Arthur:  Legend of the Sword.  It was SO good.  Loved it.  Anyway, the little town we went to had this awesome water fountain/garden area that was all lit up and beautiful at night.  I plan on taking hubby there soon.  Just to sit, chat and enjoy the scenery.

4. Track our spending.

Yes, I did a little bit of that.  But not completely caught up.  But really, this would have to be done everyday to be caught up.  I’m okay with our progress.  But we’ve been spending quite a bit of money and I think we need another no spend month (except for what’s necessary for our home projects).

5. Be more active/exercise.

Still weeding and planting.  I planted our vegetable garden last week.  So happy I finally made the time for that.

6. Let go of unnecessary stuff in my life (declutter/minimize/simplify – whatever you want to call it).

Not much of this last week.

7. Organize and digitize all of our photographs.

Lots of backing up still.  I was at 26,000 photos backed up.  Now I’m at 49,000 photos.  Wow.  And there is more!

8. Take more photos of my family and life.

I hope the dad’s had a wonderful Father’s Day.  We were invited over to my in-laws for a little get together.  It was really nice.  Here’s my hubby and the boys on Father’s Day.

9. An attitude of gratitude. I am grateful…

  • That my 15yo son is still willing to take Ebay photos for me.
  • That we are financially able to pay for a whole bunch of stuff that have recently come up. And that we don’t need to accrue any debt in doing so.  Savings rock!
  • That we finally got some rain.  We went through a bit of a dry spell and I’m so gratefully for it now.  My grass and plants really needed it!
  • For the coolness that the rains bring. A little respite from the crazy warm temperatures we’ve been having.
  • For celebrating my son’s 18th birthday.
  • For free plants from my MIL. I got probably a $100 worth of Lamium for my gardens.
  • For Lazy Dogs
  • For lightning bugs. I went outside after sunset on Thursday night to have my coffee outside on the swing and saw the most amazing display of lights from these cute little bugs.  There were hundreds of them.  Kind of like watching fireworks. 🙂
  • For my old rickety hand-me-down swing. It recently broke and and I’m so happy hubby fixed it.  So relaxing.  One of my favorite things to do when the weather is warm in the early morning and late evening.
  • For makign the time to finally plant our vegetable garden. Always a little late with this and I keep telling myself we’ll be better next year.
  • For son’s that will help with the cooking.

I know there is more that I am grateful for, but these are the things that come to mind.  What are you grateful for?

10. Microadventures. I love to get away.  It could be a day trip to the beach.  It could be exploring a new park or forest preserve.  And this year I want to focus more on little microadventures. I hope for 1 per month.

Nothing last week.

12. Try new recipes.

Hubby and I were out running errands last week and I asked my 15 yo son to make some cole slaw as I had all the ingredients on hand and had already made some chicken the day before.  This is the recipe I found on pinterest.  He said he modified it just a bit, but it was fabulous!

13. Chore free weekends. Try to get all our chores completed during the week so that weekends will be chore-free and guilt-free!

Father’s day was chore free, but Saturday wasn’t.  Lots of projects that we’re working on, so this will be on hold for a little while.

14. Read 52 books.  Last year I read a total of 53 books.  So I’m hoping to read at least 52 this year.  You can see which books I’ve read on my 2016 Books board on Pinterest. Here’s what I read/listened to last week:

Still nothing last week. But I did start another one that I’ll share next week.

How are your goals coming along??  I’d love to read about them in the comments!

  1. Hi Margaret

You are doing very well, you are very focused and it is inspriational. I am at present doing a bit of a clearout of ebay stock. I am donating items that have been around for quite a while and whilst doing so have grabbed a few treasues enroute 🙂

God bless your lovely family. That is a beautiful picture of your boys.

We have had very high temperatures here and its been a battle to keep the plants hydrated 🙂 It won’t last long so we take every opportunity to enjoy it.

    1. Hi Eithne, Thank you for your kind words. I have to say that posting my goals on the blog is helping to keep me accountable and I’m glad you find it inspirational. I was going through some of my ebay bins and have a few things that haven’t sold in several years and I think that I too will be donating a few things that I just don’t want to keep around. Glad you’re enjoying the warm temps and sunny weather. It’s been a little too dry here lately. We’ve had several days of rain, but still not enough. The ground is still so cracked. Luckily a few more rainy days at the end of this week. But the temps have cooled quite considerably. I’m really liking the cooler weather. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
